A little about me:

A native of Batavia, Illinois, Dr. Rudy often appears in recitals, master classes, competitions, and dedicatory/commemorative events all across the United States. Highlights include appearances at the 2016 AGO National Convention in Houston, the 2017 ALCM National Conference, as well as with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra and Fox Valley Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Rudy is a laureate of several performance competitions, most notably First Prize and the Audience Prize at the American Guild of Organists 2014 National Young Artists Competition in Organ Performance, the Guild’s premiere organ competition. He was also a finalist in the National Organ Playing Competition in Fort Wayne, as well as the Second Prize Winner of the Regional Competition for Young Organists in 2011. He received the Immanuel Organ Scholar Award in 2009 (Evanston, IL) in recognition of excellence in performance and sacred music, as well as high praise and prizes during competitions hosted in Detroit, Bloomington IN, Wheaton IL, and Glen Ellyn IL.
Dr. Rudy received his Doctorate in Organ and Sacred Music at Indiana University, where he studied with Janette Fishell, Bruce Neswick, and pursued minors in Music Theory and Choral Conducting. Dr. Rudy maintains a career as a conductor. He studied Choral Conducting at Indiana University with Dr. William Gray and Dr. Richard Tangyuk, and regularly leads choral and instrumental ensembles. He has served as conductor for many ensembles and festival choruses in recent years, and loves to teach choir members of all ages to sing healthily, musically, and boldly together in festive song and praise.
Jonathan D. Rudy currently serves as Cantor / Director of Music at Grace Lutheran Church, Clarksville, TN, where he lives with his beautiful wife, Katie, and two children. He coordinates the annual Music at Grace concert series, and directs the accomplished choir and musical ensembles in worship and concert – including an October 2022 performance of Mendelssohn’s mighty Elijah oratorio. Dr. Rudy previously served as Director of Musical Arts at St. John Cantius Catholic Church in Chicago, as well as at churches in Cookeville, TN, and Terre Haute, IN. He has served in leadership roles in several AGO chapters, including Dean of Bloomington, IN.
